PhotoCraft Language: Switch the Editor to Spanish, German and More

PhotoCraft's interface comes in 20 languages, but the web version starts in English. Here is where to switch it to Spanish, German, French and more.

The short answer

PhotoCraft's interface comes in 20 languages, including Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. The web version always starts in English and doesn't read your browser's language, so you pick yours once under Edit → Preferences → Interface → Language. Your browser remembers the choice.

How to change the language

  1. Open the PhotoCraft editor.
  2. Open the Edit menu, then Preferences (the last item), then Interface.
  3. Scroll down to Language, pick yours, for example Español or Deutsch, and click OK.

Menus, panels and dialogs change straight away. Where a string has no translation yet, the editor shows it in English.

Switched to a language you can't read? Open the second menu in the menu bar (Edit), then its last item (Preferences), then the second section in the list on the left (Interface). Scroll down to the dropdown that shows your current language and choose English.

Which languages work

  • Displayed correctly in the web build: Čeština, Deutsch, Ελληνικά, English, Español, Français, Bahasa Indonesia, Italiano, Magyar, Nederlands, Polski, Português (Brasil), Русский, Türkçe, Українська and Tiếng Việt.
  • Listed, but not displayed here: 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語 and 한국어. The web build has no fonts for Chinese, Japanese or Korean, so every label turns into an empty box. If you pick one by accident, switch back to English as described above.

Good to know

  • This website and the editor have separate languages. Browsing the site in Spanish or German (/es, /de) doesn't change the editor, and the editor's setting doesn't change the site.
  • The choice lives in your browser. It is stored in localStorage with your other editor preferences, so clearing site data puts it back to English.
  • It starts in English even on a Spanish or German browser. The "Auto" option means English in the web version.

Questions people ask

Is PhotoCraft available in Spanish? Yes. Choose Español and the menus read Archivo, Edición, Imagen, Capa, Texto, Selección, Filtro, Vista, Ventana and Ayuda.

Is PhotoCraft available in German? Yes. Choose Deutsch and the menus read Datei, Bearbeiten, Bild, Ebene, Text, Auswahl, Filter, Ansicht, Fenster and Hilfe.

Can I use PhotoCraft in Chinese, Japanese or Korean here? Not yet. The translations exist in PhotoCraft itself, but the web build this site hosts has no fonts for those scripts, so the text can't be drawn.
